Hi Jackie
have you asked them to show the evidence of going over the
allowance.

Regards, Derek

Hi Derek

We are not having that particular issue, but have this week received
an
Email stating we have exceeded our 40gb limit. This is impossible as
neither of us have used the Internet to that extent. Martin is
currently
having ongoing dialogue with BT about it because once someone goes
over the
cap, they charge for data used. We could go unlimited with them, of
course,
but why should we when we only use a rough estimate of 13gb a month?
Or we
could go elsewhere, but that is a real hassle to be honest.

Has anyone else been told they are over their download limit by BT
when they
know for sure this can't be the case?

Kind Regards,

Jackie Brown

Subject: [access-uk] BT and Yahoo

Has anything like the following ever happen to any of you.

About every 2 montths I get locked out of my email account.
I am forced to do a password reset.
here is a quote from BT about the issue.

"BT attention now turned to the activity that was driving this lock
and
after various escalations into Yahoo it was their final position that
they
were unable to disclose the IP addresses that were actually driving
this
activity to which there were multiple locations. This is part of their
business model and data protection act not to disclose such
information to
either BT or the owner of the email address. As there were multiple IP
addresses noted as driving this then this would suggest that the
activity is
not being driven by a single user and most likely a BOTNET which I
described
as a network of infected computers which a social engineer can task to
perform either a group dictionary attack to try and guess your
password or
by running spam sending software attempting to send messages not just
from
your email address but numerous in one go.
Unfortunately as we have identified it is a genuine security that is
affecting you and it is being driven by a 3rd party in an attempt to
try and
gain access into the account and/or send emails out as you there is
nothing
more we can do."
