I have another question regarding capatilization. As you all know, we, In America, use the dot 6 for the capital sign. My question is this: Do you use the dot 6 twice for capitalizing every letter following those two dots? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Eleanor Martha Burke" <eleanormarthaburke@xxxxxxxxx>

Steve says

"If we don't have caps, we have illiterate blind people who don't
know how to write in the sighted world."

If that was the case, are those that left school in the
1960s and 70s on average illiterate!

Also, lets not forget grade 2 Braille.
Should grade 2 Braille be allowed, given fact
The grade 2 Braille abbreviations are not in print.

So most users of grade 2 are unable to spell correctly!!!!

Hi,

I disagree.

If we don't have caps, we have illiterate blind people who don't know how to
write in the sighterd world. They write everything in lower case. And
don't get me started on spelling because of contracted Braille.

All the best

Steve

And real Braille is not print. Sadly some people are trying to make
Braille more like print.
We don't need to show capital letter in Braille.

Braille is not a language. Perhaps if this misconception was laid to rest,
more people might be more willing to learn.

As a point of interest I wonder if Braille mislabelling could count
as being breach of the trades descriptions act?

As some of you know I was recently asked to write a
piece for the Guardian on Braille and hopes for the future. In that piece I mentioned that The co-Op labels many, though not all of its own brand lines
in Braille. Today, however, I found a discrepancy between the print and
Braille packaging. I bought a pack of Co-Op bran flakes. Thankfully I
don't have to rely solely on the Braille to identify products because the
Braille said that the pack contained Golden Honey Nut Corn flakes. I'll
have to go back and determine weather all of the packs are labelled wrongly in Braille. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:-
