Hey Terry,

Thanks for this. I'll try it.

We are now re-downloading and installing again from recovery, but if this
happens again, I'll keep this Email handy.

Thanks a lot.

All the best

Steve

Hi Steve.
OK I think what may of happened here is that its got itself into encrypted
mode.
This happened to me on Friday and I did the following once I'd established
what had happened.
First ensure you know the password you set the mac up with in the first
place.
Then turn the mac on and then turn on VO with command f5.
If I'm right at this point it will beep once.
Enter the username you set the mac up with and press enter.
It should then beep twice, at which point stick your password in and again
hit enter.
It should then beep three times and after a few seconds log in as your user
as normal.

Subject: [BCAB] Yosemite upgrade problem

Hi all,

I'm pretty new to the Mac, and we have a Macbook Pro.

We attempted to upgrade to Yosemite over the weekend and it has got into a
weird boot loop. However, I can boot into recovery mode, select Install OS
x, but the installation never completes. When you reboot, you get the OSx
utilities come up and Password Reset. I re-enter the same password, but
it's as if it wants me to change it. The first bit works, the Apple ID and
password, but then it seems to want me to change the password. I have tried
this, and it is successful, but always boots into that mode. It seems to
install partially as the progress indicator clicks for some time.

Problem is I don't have a working Apple mac to create a boot USB drive for a
clean install, so is there any way I can trigger it to redownload and
install clean?

I will have someone sighted here tomorrow so can see exactly what it is
doing, but these things always happen over the weekend when you have no
working eyes <Smile>.

Note there is no important data on this machine, as I bought it to learn VO
and experiment with.

Thanks for any help.

All the best

Steve
