Hi Adrian,

13 hours, even on dial-up, is way over the top for what is around a
4-5 meg download of MSE.

George.

Hi George and tony

Ok I have removed avast and have gone over to mse, it's good
but only being on dialup, the up-dates take a long time. Is
this right? I ended up downloading it manually and it said
13 hours, something else must be running.

Adrien

I agree with Tony here. I've moved all our office and home
systems to Microsoft Security Esentials, plus many otheres I
know have done the same. So far, no adverse reports. Quite
the reverse.

And it's free!

Adrien,

The mod on a list here informs us which I'm on tells us to
get rid of Avast!

It was okay for us before but the new version isn't!

Uninstall and try MSSE.

Sorry if that doesn't answer your question exactly!

        Hi

The new version of avast has new voices, a young
lady, and
some chimes at the beginning of each message.

I have come across a problem with avast this
morning. Avast
up-dated and immediately reported that one of my
outlook
add-ons is a threat. I tried to reinstall the
program but
the threat message keeps coming up. I tried to
remove avast
but it won't go. I have had to remove the add-on for
now, I
think it's just the avast up-date, it may correct
itself
later. We tried to find out where to allow the
program as a
safe item but it's hidden. I have reported the
problem to
        avast and to sperrysoft.

        Regards

        Hi Barbara and all -

installed;
it use to give me a daily announcement that the
database had
been updated, but all has been quiet now for some
weeks. Are
there issues with Avast? Is that why you wanted to
uninstall
        it Barbara? -
