Hi David
You can't put an objective point of view across to most Apple forums, they are
a brand and that's that, a reason why I don't subscribe to any of them.
I am not devoted to one or the other of anything, I just buy what works for me,
and what makes life easier. In this instance, I prefer Apple iPhones, but I
absolutely detest the adoration and hype that surrounds them. Sure they have
done a lot for accessibility, and I willingly applaud them for that. But
worship them? Buy every gadget that comes out just because it's Apple? Agree
with everything they do or try to change? No way! This, in my view, is a bad
move and one that might come back to haunt them.
Kind Regards,
Jackie Brown

I tend to agree. I tried to constructively criticise this step by Apple on an
Apple list from the perspective of a hearing impaired user of an iPhone and of
course got roundly condemned as being in the dark ages by the people who adore
every move Apple make and bristle at any negative comment . Bizarrely somebody
tried to draw an analogy with floppy drives, a technology which is obviously
incapable of meeting moern modern demands, with a technology currently used
perfectly adequately by millions. This did cause one poster to wryly comment
that the emotional people who were beligerently defending Apple from any sort
of critique were apparently "deaf to my concerns".
I currently have an SE but it is sadly likely to be my last iPhone.

Hi,
Jonathan Mosen wrote an interesting blog article, but I can't find it now.
What about people who use the headphone jack in conjunction with hearing aids?
I think this is a bad move on Apple's part and I'm glad we have more
diversity in Android. If you rely on just one manufacturer, you will always
get this kind of problem.
All the best
Steve

Hi. I can’t see how it’s ripping off their customer base. If people don’t
like it then there is always Android or purchase a good quality wireless
headset for around £25 and you still will get good quality stereo sound. I
always found that I’m for ever replacing wired headsets after a few months
because one of the earphones stop working.

Apple's latest iPhone is not wired for sound James Dean Technology
Correspondent The Times 9 August 2016
The new iPhone could be released as soon as next month - and shoppers
might have to pay for new headphones, it has been reported.
Apple's latest smartphone will rely on a wireless connection for
listening devices, according to Bloomberg News. Reports in January
that Apple would remove the headphone socket prompted a protest at
enforced obsolescence.
A dual camera that takes sharper photographs in low light is expected
to feature on the larger of the two new iPhone models. Bloomberg said
the device would have a touch-sensitive central button and would come
in the same sizes as the iPhone 6 and larger iPhone 6 Plus. Apple
declined to comment.
More than 300,000 people signed a petition calling on Apple to keep
the phone's earphone jack, rather than "rip off every one of its
customers"
by dropping it. Apple is likely to include Bluetooth earphones with
the new models, but some audiophiles will not be satisfied the sound
quality.
