right, here's a work around, hit reply as you would before, then turn off
speech with a three finger double tap, you hear speech off, then two finger
double tap, speak, then two finger double tap to end dictation, then three
finger double tap to turn speech back on.

I'm using 9.3.4 and haven't experienced this problem although I love the
dictation feature.
