John,

Could you do us a podcast and demo some of the features you use here in the UK and how?

hi there yes with ootunes i can hear the cricket on
sports extra the sound quality is as good as the ipod
nanno when listening to the radio on that device. apple
especially with this new upgrade should be congratulated
on accessability for us just look at the new phone that
is coming out done by microsofft nothing for us blind
people at all not access. i have just read this in the pc
advisor and pc plus and computer shopper mag. as jackie
says you can go in to the apple store either get them to
set up voice over for you or take the phone home get on
itunes and do it yourself just like that. you do not have
the £600 or £700 extra for the screenreader like window
eyes and jaws and also you do not have to keep paying out
lots of money for the upgrades. just look at the jaws
upgrades every time one comes out we have to shell out
again. i would love to show other blind people how i
manage the iphone. in three months i am truly amazed what
i have achieved with it. we have no sight here pat cannot
see at all the same as me and i have done all this
without any help from anyone else. i still will not be
without my talks as i have the best of both worlds so to
speak i just wish this iphone if everyone bought an
electric piano could tune the damn things via the web
there by saving all this travell 1smile, smile 1smile,
very interesting though in two weeks to see the new
iphone software. i understand the sky app has been
updated so you can use it on 3 g.

Hi Steve

I'm not disputing any of what you say, who would dare?
(smile). I'm just saying I was impressed with what I
found on the Iphone in a very short pl= ay
I had with it recently. I don't think I would ever
abandon Talks and Symbian for out and out texting as
using a tactile keypad must be quicker than using a
touch screen. But I like the concept of what Apple is
doing= ,
and I suspect that, whether we like it or not, more and
more phones will = be
adopting the touch screen method. I love Talks to bits,
but Nuance is somewhat slow to keep up with this
ridiculous demand for new phones. The= re
is nothing quite like going into a shop and purchasing
something right ou= t
of the box that will read some of these applications to
you. One of my t= axi
drivers had the cricket on his Iphone in the car one
 evening when he took= me
home from work. He was listening to it on Five Live
Sports Extra, and th= e
quality was more than tolerable.

Good stuff.

Hi Jackie,

With respect, I can do the same almost at
http://braille.wunderground.com= ..
I can click on each day with my Symbian phone.

Don't get me wrong, I like some of the iPhone apps, but
the weather apps = are
easily do-able with Symbian. I also use an app called
S60 Weather which = is
free.

OK, it is not built in, but just as good.

All the best

Steve

Hi Carol

I can tell you that the weather program works on the
Iphone. Ash at S an= d S
has one, and he let me have a shot of Voiceover on it
one day. I was fascinated with the weather program, and
how you could click on each day = to
obtain the forecast. Mind you, it was the first time
 I'd had my hands on= a
touch screen phone, so my fingers were all over the
place. It would be a steep learning curve for me
personally, but I'd be willing to give it a g= o
at some point in the not too distant futuredd=20
