Hi Kevin
In case you didn't know, you can connect to the Amazon echo via Bluetooth so
for instance connect a pair of speakers to your Dot simply by configuring them
in the Alexa app. This could also work with a pair of headphones which are
Bluetooth compatible so if you want better sound quality, this might be an
option if you are going to use Amazon Music.

I listen to a lot of music via Apple music and my iPhone and have a pair of

make your head vibrate if that’s what you like.
I have only listened to Amazon music streaming via the Echo Dot connected to
a hifi system and found it disappointingly flat and lifeless. This could be
more to do with the Dot’s digital to analogue conversion and the poor
implementation of a 3.5 mini jack rather than proper phono cables...
In terms of sound quality, the modern AAC encoding of iTunes and Apple Music
is widely accepted as greater quality than the old MP3 encoding used by both
Spotify and Amazon music with iTunes AAC encoding using variable rates
between 256KBPS and 320KBPS and the others using 320KBPS if I remember
correctly.
If you are looking for ultimate sound quality though, you can look no further
than Tidal which streams in lossless... This comes at a price though with
monthly subscription at £20 per month.
The Tidal app is accessible but not as intuitive or integrated with existing
iTunes purchases as Apple Music and obviously not as cheap to subscribe to
which is why I ditched Tidal for Apple Music once I was certain the sound
quality was as close to lossless as could be reasonably achieved by the more
popular subscription services.
Regards.

Hi can I just add my 2 penny worth here about the sound quality? Firstly,
I do not have either spottify or apple music and love my Amazon music app.
One of the most important reasons I prefer it relates to the sound of the
music itself, I am well aware that individual preferences are precisely
that. I love a bit of whoomfmmmf from my bluetooth headphones, I do not get
this from either listening to music on my iphone or ipod touch from my music
library, despite bass being switched on and loudness restrictions switched
off but with amazon music you certainly do. Clearly this only applies to
headphone listening but I think it worth noting.

I think I need to play around with Spotify more as I don’t find it easily to
navigate through. It isn’t that it isn’t accessible on my Iphone, just that I
don’t really understand how to get best out of it.
