Hi Andy

Well done. What do you think of the keyboard on your new machine? Would I
be right in assuming that the TouchPad allows you to perform gestures
similar to those you would on an iOS device?

Kind regards,

Hi Carol -

Got my new MacBook Air this afternoon, and decided not to let the Apple
store set it up for me, but brought it home to do myself.

As soon as it booted up, VO came up talking, with a message to follow about
a quick tutorial for learning some basic key stroke/navigation commands.
Once I'd listened and practiced, I followed the prompts for setting up the
Mac, this included connecting to wi-fi, and alerting iCloud to the Mac's
existence. All pretty strait forward. I'm now in the process of looking
around the Mac, and getting familiar with navigating etc. Loads of built-in
help, but can't say yet how well it performs against my Windows experience,
as I haven't got familiar enough with it yet to make those kinds of
comparison.

So far, I have to say that I am delighted with the physical feel of the
MacBook, it's very light weight, it's excellent sound and boot up and wake
up times. I feel I have made the right decision, but know there is some
learning to do, but at least I still have this functioning laptop while
making the full transition -

Andy

No worries, David, I will ask around. I have decided to buy MacBook
recently advertised. I'm looking forward so much to getting to grips with
this. I will be asking for sort of help, no doubt!

either of these programs?

                                Hi Carol,
I am able to make my own spread sheet using
numbers. and with pages I write letters and also I use it to make notes. I
must say at first I had quite a lot of problems using numbers and pages,
but I persevered and I then seemed to get the hang of things. Can I change
the fonts in pages the answer is yes. With numbers I just use a standard
page set up, as this is all I need. David.

Thanks feel message. Once again you
have told me that you use Pages and Numbers, but you have given me no idea
whatsoever as to what you actually do with them and how much you can do
alone.

If you would like to do this, I'm
sure it would be most helpful not only to me but to others who are
interested. Four example, can you make a spreadsheet from scratch? Can you
change columns, Add and subtract lines, etc? can you Work on someone else's
spreadsheet yourself, seeing what they have done and how they have done it
with regards to lay out, fonts used etc?

What about Pages? Could you produce
your own letterhead? What about tables? You see, some people will want to do
some all of these things So it is not enough just to say you use then.

finally decided to ditch Windows, and JFW in favour of the new MacBook Air.
I'd be interested to hear anybody's experiences with this particular laptop,
