I see that Google claim to have made great improvements to the accessibility of Google Docs, in particular with the new Spreadsheets. As well as the native Chromevox, it says you can enable extra compatibility with other screenreaders like JAWS, NVDA etc by pressing Alt + Shift + ~ within Google Spreadsheets. More info: https://support.google.com/drive/answer/1632199?hl=en I was wondering what the opinions here were; I am sighted so not a screenreader user but I use Chromevox for compliance testing, but I am trying to persuade a friend with a crumbling XP PC and pre-historic versions of JAWS and Office 97 that it might be time to update. He's got the offer of a 2nd hand £25 windows 7 basic laptop, but he can't afford a full new Microsoft Office and doesn't like OpenOffice for reasons unknown. As he only uses simple spreadsheets, I was thinking this might be breakthrough time. So, if any screen reader users have opinions particularly of NVDA and the NEW version of Google Spreadsheets, please let the list know! ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
