Now then. I have figured something out. If you set incoming calls to “Full screen” rather than “Banner” in “Settings>Phone”, the answer icon then would appear at the bottom right corner, about an inch up from the bottom edge of the phone, and away from the reject icon. So, with a couple of stabs on that area of the screen, it is likely you’d hit the answer icon, and there is no danger of hitting the reject icon by mistake.

Re the other ideas that were kindly suggested by others, they didn’t work unfortunately. Hey Siri, doesn’t seem to work while the phone is ringing, and the self-voiced apps require you to actually quit VoiceOver and not only silence speech.

I think this whole thing is utter shambles, surely the self-voiced apps developers understand that we do need VoiceOver to answer incoming calls.

Best,

Amro

Hi Amro

Could this be achieved with hey siri?  Cheers!  Graham

Thanks, Steve, but how? This is my problem. When I press the wake/sleep button
three times to switch on VoiceOver, the call is rejected in the process. Also,
pressing and holding the wake/sleep button to turn on VoiceOver with voice
command rejects the incoming call too. Mine is an iPhone 11 so it doesn’t have
a Home button. Do you or anyone else have an idea on how to switch on VoiceOver
without rejecting the incoming call in the process please? Alternatively, if
someone comes up with a clever way of answering calls when VoiceOver is off
that would be a good work around.

Best,

Amro

No, but why not just switch VoiceOver on, then answer the phone?  It's easy
enough.

Subject: [access-uk] Answering calls with VoiceOver switched off?

Hi everyone,

Is there a way for us to answer incoming phone calls on the iPhone with
VoiceOver switched off?

Naturally I would have VoiceOver switched off while using self-voiced apps,
hence my question. To be honest, this is truly bugging me as all self-voiced
iPhone apps are developed for the blind, but the developers do not seem to have
considered this situation, and they have simply prioritised their apps over the
primary function of the phone. Any thoughts?

Best,

Amro
