There are sites that gives codes to make dbd players region free, that is, 
to make it so that any dvd plays on them.  Here's one such site:

Appparently, you have to follow strict instructions using the remote 
control.  I've not doe this but I have a friend who has done so on two of 
his machines and it worked a treat.

The reason why the DVD won't play is because the region for the states
is different to ours (region 2). Don't know a solution, but I hope that
helps anyway.
