If I remember, I just set the free month trial up directly from the Amazon
Echo unit itself.
I then received an email telling me that after the month was up that if I
didn't cancel, then they would start taking £3 99 per month from my account
which was already set up with Amazon.
So you know right away how much they are charging you, and if by any chance
it has the wrong amount, then you can go into the Alexa website and select
the correct payment plan.

second generation. But as you say the web site is as clear as mud. All they
say is just ask. Well I've tried asking Alexa and all she says is try a
trial but then I don't want to get charged 9.99 after that. I can't see
where to set it up on the web site, or on the Alexa app, any clues?

Hi Mark,
You do not have to be a prime member to get the £3 99 offer.
The only restriction is that you can only hear the Amazon Music on that one
Echo Dot.

to be a Prime member first, please? As I am not, it would make the music
subscription far higher by having to pay Prime subscription as well.
