RTE Radio One is an Irish station not the BBC. So that won't work on iPlayer
Radio.

Hi Tony

You could try iPlayer Radio, that might get you what you are looking for.

Hi Jackie,

Think I see where you are coming from, LOL!

I've been trying unsuccessfully to get The Dot to play RTE Radio 1 and
Newstalk, both of which are in Ireland but Alexa won't oblige at all but I
can get it to find other stations around the globe no bother.

I know of course that all Skills aren't available to us here in the ROI but
perhaps I need keep prompting it.

By the way, got The Guardian, so good and clear,

Best,

Tony Sweeney. On 21/12/2016 13:33, Jackie Brown wrote:

Oh you can have fun with it, we do.  It seems to understand me better

I don't know if the Tap is available yet, I must check that out.

That's fine Jackie thanks very much.

In brief now I will be bringing the Dot upstairs with me rather than
lug a computer and can bring it away with me too when necessary which is
great.

I was having great Craic with it trying to get it to identify Live 95
(Limerick) and Alexa thinking it to be 'live' as you only live twice!
but it got it eventually so I guess it's about training it to
recognise the voice.

Finally for a device it's size and reasonable cost it's priceless so I
may get more, the next time perhaps the portable device The Tap I think it
is.

Best,

Tony Sweeney.

Hi Tony

The button with a dot on it is the actions button, and the other one
is to turn off the microphone so she doesn't hear you.  I think they
are the correct descriptions, I never touch them to be honest.

Each skill has a description when you go into it from the app or
website, and tells you what to say to open it.  So, for example, if
you have the Guardian, say: "Alexa, open the Guardian," then she
gives you prompts from there.

Hi Jackie, all,

The good news is that I've now just set up my Dot to Wi-Fi and can
get radio stations and the time in different countries for example
but i have just one or two questions left now I guess.

I'm unsure what two of the buttons on the device are for although I
note two others are for volume?

The other question is where can I find a list of commands to get The
Dot to fulfil my requests effectively and if on the website where
therein?

Season's greetings,

Tony Sweeney.

Hi Tony

You can go to All Skills on the Alexa website, and there is also a
combo box to choose Alexa on the Amazon website that offers loads of
skills, including the newest ones.

You don't need your computer to be on once you have set Alexa up.
If you are adding skills to the device from the Alexa website, these
don't take effect until you have left that site.

Subject: [access-uk] Amazon Echo/Dot Skills listing

Hi Jackie, all,

I wonder where one can get the list of Skills for the Echo/Dot?

I assume you don't have to leave your computer on when using the
device after setting it up of course or am I wrong about that, have
WiFi.

Best,

Tony Sweeney.
By the way have orderd my Dot so looking to having such
enjoyment/fun/info and more with it.
