Hi Kevin.
No, it is designed to be a natural communication engine, so the speed of the
TTS is mirroring the speed at which people would normally talk to you if you
get my drift.

I have not had a look in the settings of the app, is there a way to
speed up the tts yet?

You don’t need sighted assistance to set up the echo, however you do
need to be familiar with iOS or Android operating systems or have
someone willing to set up the Echo for you if you are not. The Alexa
app is definitely usable and the instructions provided by both app and
speaker are clear and easy to follow.
All the best, Ibrahim.

this may be a stupid question but is there a guide as to how to set the
echo up in the first place and how to connect it with your iPhone or is
it better to have sighted assistance. Janet

Hi Alison.
Yes, most of the skills are free, however some require you to have
functionality from websites in order to work. For instance, if you want
to use JustEat to order your favourite takeaway, you obviously have to
have a JustEat account and to have placed an order before to enable this
functionality. There are other skills which enable you to order cabs,
check airfare prices and flight status etc. etc. as well as the fun and
novelty ones as previously mentioned.
All the best, Ibrahim.
