Thanks Ed I'll try the tripple click which I haven't done but I did select
Alex after I'd downloaded it as the default, I'll let you know!

Hi Mandy,
Have you selected Alex as your default dialect? You need to go into
settings/general/accessibility/Voiceover/speech in order to do that. If you
have and it doesn't work, try restarting Voiceover, perhaps by using triple
click home if you have set this up to load and unload Voiceover.
