Hi Barry.
I occasionally use my AirPods with my Apple watch, the connection between
devices paired to your Apple iCloud account should be seemless and straight
forward. Make sure your iPhone is not actively playing music or speaking
before attempting to use your AirPods, they will connect to the first audio
source that is transmitting audio. Put them in your ears and wait for them
to activate, then attempt to use your watch. The audio from your watch
should be coming through your AirPods, though this is quieter than from an
iPhone, presumably to avoid distracting volume levels. Make sure Bluetooth
is turned on on your watch as otherwise AirPods will not connect.

I believe there could be a bug with the Airpods automatically swapping from
Apple Watch to iPhone and back again. Has anyone successfully managed to
get this working properly?
