Caroline, Chris and anyone following this thread, my sister bought an HP laptop earlier this year at a knockdown price. the strangest thing about it was that the keyboard was set up in US layout, even though the keyboard itself is a UK keyboard. I had to go into regional settings to change this. Must admit I'm not used to laptops and I find the layout makes me feel as if I'm in an alien world. Add to that the keys are flat, no raking of the keys, and I find it thoroughly uncomfortable to use. I really do dislike the way keyboards have gone on laptops, and were I to consider ever buying anything like this it would be with a desktop replacement keyboard layout with numeric keypad. Cheers, From Ray I can be contacted off-list at: mailto:ray-48@xxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- Caroline Ford Please could you give me the model number of your Compaq, Chris, so that I can check out all the specs. Thanks, Caroline. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Chris Hallsworth Sent: 09 December 2007 22:49 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Advent Laptops - Any Experiences? Hi Caroline, my Compaq is quite light and small; in fact, it's lighter than my Toshiba laptop I have that's gone in for repair after some spillage. Not sure about the screen though, could be 15 inches. Hope that helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Caroline Ford" <caroline@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, December 09, 2007 5:52 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Advent Laptops - Any Experiences? > Hello Chris and others, > > Thanks for your replies about Advent laptops.
