Jackie, What I was trying to say was that, whatever warranty the retailer
may offer, the retailer may find that the law imposes a longer one.

Indeed, some items have more generous warranties.  In fact, if you purchase
this box from John Lewis, they offer a two-year guarantee as with all their
products.

Jacky, Actually quite a bit longer than 12 months.  That's just the period
advertised by many retailers.  Last time I looked, think the booklet was
suggesting that a period of up to 6 years may apply in certain circs.

No I don't see why David, it could happen if you bought something anywhere
and the company folded.  You have a statutory 12-month warranty anyway.
