[access-uk] Adding RAM

Hi all,
Sorry for the cross posting, but I'd like to know the following:
I currently have 256 MB of RAM in this Toshiba laptop and I'm
considering taking it to a computer store like PC World so that they can
add another 256 MB so that I have a total of 512 MB of RAM. However, I
am wondering, due to my blindness, do I have the right to test the
laptop before taking it back? Thing is I don't want to risk taking a
once fully working laptop that's now faulty thanks to bad RAM back to my
accomodation at my university in Birmingham, so this is why I'm asking.
