hi Barry and All
Doubtless Barry will in his role of Moderator inform me if this is inappropriate for this list. I was mugged last Friday and as a blind person with a guide dog, the Police, to be fair, have been extremely supportive and have visited me many times. I must have had 6 or more Police at my home and spoken to at least 3 different ones on the phone.

Now with regard to accessable format which is what the list is all about. The Police do indeed have a raised Crest and Braille on their ID but our friendly community police do not. I will not let anyone in without ID so this is a wee bit difficult re community police. I am now told that they will look in to tactile/braille ID. That issue addressed, now there is the question of me giving a Statement. I was contacted yesterday by a member of the Police and he said his colleague would be contacting me today re video etc. True enough she contacted me this morning and said she would like to get me down to Holburn Police Station to make a video. I asked enquiringly, a video! and she said yes, for people like you, a little embarrased in her voice, we do a video, it seems the best and only way when you cannot, then hesitation, write!!! I said I would be declining the video and she could come and visit me at my home. She was a bit taken aback I have to say and said she would have to have a word with her Sargent. She then called back and said she would come this afternoon. I have been here before when Neela my guide dog was attacked and I dictated a statement which the DC wrote down word for word and read it back to me. He said it had to be done that way as they had special forms etc etc. Now any thoughts, should there be a template produced for people whose only method of writing is via a keyboard? What are people's thoughts on this one? Sorry Barry if it is all inappropriate for the list. If it is, I will not speak of it again on list.

Eleanor
