Wow! A laptop with free AVG preinstalled? Lucky you! My Compaq Presario machine running Vista Home Premium came with the usual trial subscription of Norton, so had to download and install AVG myself after uninstalling Norton first. Thanks Douglas for the help, greatly appreciated.

Chris,
That surprises me a little. This laptop with Vista came with AVG Free pre-installed and I used it for a few weeks before switching to the Eset Smart Security. AVG certainy updated automatically so I suspect that there is a setting somewhere which the suppliers of the laptop had used to ensure this. Eset Smart Security updates as it should and I see no reason why NOD32 should not do the same.

Hi all,
I'm currently using the free AVG antivirus on my Vista laptop. However,
unlike XP, AVG never seems to update automatically, even though I've told
it to. A friend and support worker has this problem as well, so it must be
an issue with the latest AVG and Vista. Does anyone know if Nod32 will
work better in this respect? If so, I may give it a try. All help will be
greatly appreciated.
