[access-uk] Re: AVG 7 taking 3 times as long

I understand that the larger the number of files means that the test takes longer but what I don't understand is that when I don't have much more on my pc now than I did when I had version 6 of AVG yet it takes three times longer to do the scan. I can only think that it is a more thorough test.

The test that a v g runs on your computer looks at all the files on your
computer so the more you have on your heard drive the longer it will take so
lots of music then it will take longer but it is worth it to be sure your
computer is free of viruses

For email use hugh.megarry@xxxxxxxxxxxx
For M S N use hughmegarry@xxxxxxxxxxx
For Skype use hugh.megarry
All the best for now

Hi Barry

I use the AVG Pro but it should be similar. In the test manager it lists the

different test you can do. Some far more thorough than others. It could be
the default is set to a different one to the previous software was set at.
What I've done is scheduled it to happen at a time I'm not likely to be
using the machine because mine takes nearly 2 hours.

Hi all

I know that the latest version of AVG is more thorough than the last
one
but my scan now takes about 40 to 45 minutes to run whereas it used to
take about 15 minutes. Is this right? The only programmes I have added
is any Windows XP updates.

I'm running XP with JFW 5.1 pro.

Thanks
