OK, Peter, so you're staying,
1)      Turn off System Restore first (before any more scanning etc)??
2)      Reboot;  and
3)      Turn on System Restore?

Will this fit then with what George says?

Carol. It might be worth you turning off system restore because it is 
amazing how much of your computer's memory is taken up with this.  you
might 
be suprized how long it takes to clear out all of the system restore
points 
which are created automatically several times dring the day.  Remember 
though not to forget to turn system restore back onn afterwards.
