OK carol. I think if you think about this one properly you can answer your own concerns here. This is a poorly written message for a start. everyone has heard about various internet scandles on radio, tv and in the newspapers. I would argue that basic common sense should be telling you and indeed screaming at you that this is a hoax. Please be clear that I am not meaning to be particularly critical of you but just saying that to go with gut feelings with these messages is an extremely good strategy. There is bad english here and very vague meaningless explanations. Message reads: Dear customer, Due to the dramatic increase in cases of online banking fraud, we took certain measures with the purpose of increasing the security level which will allow to keep your funds in perfect safety. For the new security system to be efficient, you have to give us your ‘emergency’ phone number, using which our managers can contact you if necessary. We recommend using your mobile phone or a phone by which you are most reachable for our staff. Please note that this procedure is really important and crucial. We will monitor all the clients’ funds 24h a day, and in case of a slightest fraud suspicion our managers will call up the customers to clear the details and confirm or cancel a payment. To add your emergency number, please authorize yourself and follow the system tips. To start the authorization procedure, please click this link. Barclays Online Login ** ** ** I can't find this as a listed hoax but I'm sure Barclays shouldn't need to be doing this and probably have all needed telephone numbers anyway.
