Eleanor,On this Vista laptop running Hal 9.02 I have it set to go to sleep if there is no keyboard input for 5 minutes. Usually it wakes OK, but occasionally it does so with no speech from Hal! I used to re-boot until I discovered by accident that if I press left Control and 0 speech returned. For some reason the Hal speech seems to have become muted during the sleep. I even loaded NVDA and checked the Hal Control Panel and sure enough the speech wasturned off. Hope that helps, Douglas On 20 Nov 2008 at 0:01, Eleanor Burke wrote:I have always found that with my laptop hybernating, sadly when I woke itup, it was fine but the Supernova magnification and speech had really gone to sleep and seemed to shut down. I then ended up having to shut down thelaptop and reboot it so no hybernation for me any more. Now someone may have an answer there for me. I don't even bother with screen savers.
