Well, one idea is to use a hardware mixer. A while ago I got a small one from a music shop for £20. I use it to listen to my MP3/CD player while practising new songs on my musical keyboard through my headphones.

Hi wise people,

I would like to listen to my MP3 player through headphones as normal,
plus another device intermittently. I won’t bore you with the details.
So, is there a wire that I can connect to the laptop’s earphone socket
and the MP3 earphone socket, into a pair of headphones to get both
outputs?

Many thanks,

BJ
