Well, since my message last night I can confirm same pleasant experience! I have been e-mailed by google and also have account created. I have also downloaded and installed google talk and so far haven't got any major difficulties with it. As mentioned in the review, you do need to use jaws cursor, but in general the application is pretty easy to use. I find gmail it self though not very easy to use at all. It personally doesn't really bother me because I don't intend to use gmail as I have my own mail server anyway, but am curious to know if any screenreader users managed to use gmail successfully?

Vanja,
Some months ago I wanted to set up an account to use the Google News Groups and
even with my wife's help did not seem to be getting anywhere. So I sent an e-mail to
their Support team. Within the hour they had set up an account for me and sent me a
password. Later I received a further message saying how much they appreciated the
feedback and my suggestion as to how they could help visually impaired people in
future. They assured me that their development team now had the matter in hand.

Very different from my experience of other organisations - yahoo in particular!

I came across the exactly same problem when trying to register. I have
e-mailed google about this several time, but never got any reply yet. Of
course the best alternative would be, like most other sites do now is to
have an audio alternative where characters are spoken, but till that
happens
we'll have to rely on someone's help. The only other thing we can do is
keep presuring google and other companies to provide us with an
alternative.
I can understand why companies use this system, but it's also been proven
that there is an alternative, although not perfect at least it gives us
chance and most of the time it works.
