This is easy in any screen reader.
Simply press F2 to enter edit mode on any file or folder name and then press
control right arrow to read word by word.
To have the folder name spelt out letter by letter in Jaws just press insert
and then up arrow twice.

What I would find useful sometimes would be the ability to read the folder name
word by word.
I have a list of books and although when I arrow down, Jaws reads the whole
title, if it is a longer more complex title, I don’t know how to read the
folder name word by word.
