Hi Petrina

Sorry to hear this hasn't worked for you, not sure what else to suggest then
unless you play about with JAWS settings.

Kind regards,

Jackie Brown

Hi Jackie,

I did what you suggested. At the same time I was comparing the settings on
the new laptop, with my old one, because I wasn't sure what to change. I
think I made one change, but it hasn't made any difference.
All the best

Hi Petrina

Go to Control Panel,
Press Alt and go to Tools,
Choose File Options...
Control Tab to View Options,
Now tab to a tree where you can choose from lots of options on how to
customise the way your files and folders work.  For example, you can hide
file extensions, turn off descriptions etc.

Yes there is the capacity to adjust verbosity in JAWS, but I think the above
is what you need.

I hope this helps.

Subject: [access-uk] A question about folders and files in windows 10

Hi all,

I am using Windows 10 and Jaws 2018 on a laptop. Now I am new to both
Windows 10 and Jaws, so I have got a lot to learn, about both. So please can
someone tell me before I go mad, why when I arrow up and down in a folder,
Jaws is only announcing the name of what I am focused on, and it is not
giving me any other information, like if it is a file or folder, and it is
also not announcing the date. When I was using Window-Eyes, it always gave
me all this information. So please what have I got to do to get Jaws to
speake all this information. Thanks in advance for any help you can give, a
very frustrated Windows 10 and Jaws user.
All the best
Petrina
