Hi,

One way would be to copy the text from each column in the Word output into a
new document with each copied text below the previous.  Then try to force
line wrapping to 'unwrap' the lines back to normal page width settings.

I would be willing to look at the document if you get stuck but it'd
probably be a day or two before I have the time to sit and do it properly.
In the meantime, someone else on the list may come up with a faster approach
to it.  Having no problems with PDFs usually and being able to use speech
it's not a problem I've run across that many times before.
