Thanks, Robert, for the suggestion.

We don't really need another turntable since we sold off the rest of our
LP's and so, once these are copied, we probably don't need to use one.
Thanks, though, it's useful information and may help someone else if not
me directly.

Hi Carol,

My son bought me a Bush Acoustics turntable for my birthday that has a
built-in preamp and I am currently recording my late brother's huge
collection of mostly operatic albums. I am achieving excellent results,
using Sound Forge. My son told me that after making the purchase he saw
the
same models being sold in a local market at half the price he had paid
at
Richer Sounds. In your case though, it might be cheaper to purchase a
separate preamp.

Good luck.

Robert.

Subject: [access-uk] A LONG SHOT!

Hi all,

I have been in conversation with others on the GoldWave list (some while
back) and discovered that the inability to copy from one's record deck
to make a good digital recording on the PC is because of preamp, or the
lack of it. We have some older LP's that friends are desperate to have
and they're no longer available. Does anyone have a good solution for
copying these, either so that I can get the kit myself or perhaps ask
them, kindly (and for a nominal fee) to copy them for us?

If anyone can help this would be great. Thanks, and I trust I'm not
stepping on toes by posting this!
