Carol, are you pressing the TALKS key, letting it go, then holding down digit 2 for a few seconds until it says original? Then do the same to get letters, then the same again to get words, or whichever is your preference.

Any better? (smiles).

Thanks, Jackie. I'm cycling through the various modes, but perhaps I'm not holding the No 2 key down long enough or something. ...

Carol, we still have a 6600 that I use to teach people how to text. I had the version you are currently running, and was still able to press the TALKS key, then hold down the number 2 digit for a couple of seconds. It allowed me to cycle through original, letters and word modes. I upgraded mine for £50. It was worth it as it gave me Braille support (not that I have a display), and made the phone run faster.

Hope that helps.

Jackie,

I couldn't get the individual letters up, though I had already done what you suggest.

Perhaps I do need to update my TALKS.

Thanks anyway. Will bear it all in mind ...

No doubt I'll get there soon.

Hi Carol

I'll do my best, but Steve will doubtless chip in and help you out as well.

I think your 6630 is a phone supporting TALKS second edition. If this is so, you can go to
www.comproom.co.uk
and find the link to download the second edition.

I don't know your phone, so couldn't say for certain how you would put it on there. If you want TALKS to allow you to cursor through numbers and letters one digit or character at a time, press the TALKS key followed by a long press of the number two digit. You can cycle through original, letters or word modes. Letters is best.

If you want to add a contact to your phone book, within their message, bring up the menu and go to add recipient to contact. You then get the choice of updating an existing contact, or creating a new one, where you can fill in the fields with their name etc.

I hope this is enough to get you going, and that others will chip in too.

Subject: [access-uk] A FEW TALKS QUESTIONS ...

Hi all,

I haven't upgraded my Talks for ages and can't locate my version number. (Sure it's easy, but ...) What's the latest version for my 6630, please, and from where is it obtained? No, I can't remember how to install either.

I've decided to upgrade to the latest version as I haven't done so for ages and couldn't find a way to read a telephone number put within a message and copy it to my contacts. Can this be done? (I can't remember all of the number to type it in by hand and am therefore hoping I can copy, somehow) or read just the number, which I also seem unable to do.

Any help, as always, much appreciated. Thanks bunches!
