I’d fully endorse what Steve says here.

Hi,

Like I said, just type Default App in search.

Then you can tab through all the different categories, press space to change
them and tab then enter to the program you want.

I think Windows 10 is the best ever for what it’s worth.

All the best

Only so well do I understand your frustrations with Windows 10, having jumped
the hurdles just over a year ago.

My immediate comment is to put windows classic behind you.  I made the mistake
of going along that route and ended up having to reinstall the whole system
from scratch.

Regarding assigning file programs to extensions and applications, I recall that
this was more difficult than in previous versions, but can’t recall how I
eventually managed it.

BTW:  a useful shortcut is windowskey+X.

Please how do I select default apps for programmes on Windows 10 such as
Windows mail for email, Google Chrome for internet and winamp for the music
player?

Also I am trying to get back to classic menu and also how do I add things to
the desktop please?

Mandy.
