Saqib Mine doesn't do anything strange like that with the power button. Doesn't matter how hard i press it it just turns on and stays on. Same when coming out of sleep mode. It just turns on and stays that way. Hope you haven't got a dodgy button on yours. regards, Mark Threadgold Of all the things I have ever lost, The one I miss most is my mind... _____ From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Saqib Sent: 21 September 2008 20:10 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: 8gig net books Hi. When you switch the machine on you must do a soft key press on the power button to switch it on. If you press it any harder it turns on then back off within 5 seconds. I don't know why it does that for. Just a pointer incase you weren't aware of this. ----- Original Message ----- From: Mark Threadgold <mailto:m.j.threadgold@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, September 21, 2008 5:50 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: 8gig net books I have just got one of the Advent 4211 web books with the 80 gig hard drive and it's an excellent little machine. Runs well with Hal 9 and Office 2003 installed. hth Mark Threadgold Of all the things I have ever lost, The one I miss most is my mind... _____ From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Saqib Sent: 21 September 2008 17:16 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: 8gig net books Hi Terry. The Advent 4211 comes with XP HOme with 1GB of RAM and it has a 10 inch display. This machine has 80GB hard drive space and will run Jaws and System Access. I can't speak for other screen readers but I'm quite sure it wouldn't be a problem to run other screen readers. ----- Original Message ----- From: terry cooper <mailto:terrycooper94@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, September 21, 2008 4:54 PM Subject: [access-uk] 8gig net books Hi all Has anyone on the list bought one of the Advent or Acer net books with the 8gig flash drive. I was wanting to know if that sort of drive is alright to use with jaws. Basically, is there any difference with flash and rotating hard drives in terms of speed, running software etc. I have a lap top,so can't really justify the extra cost of the versions that come with an 80gig hard drive, but would like one of these for the increased portability factor. Thanks for any in put. Terry _____ No virus found in this incoming message.
