George, yes I understand that, but what I was trying to find out was why
Janet asked the question, as I couldn't see any reason for putting a 32-bit
version of jaw on a 64-bit machine with a 64-bit version of windows on it.
Cheers
Alex

What you have to be very careful about, Alex, is that you can in fact
put a 32 bit version of Windows on to a 64 bit machine.

Unfortunately I discovered this to my cost with my HP Compaq laptop as
well as a number a Compaq desktops I have here at the moment. So
while they "appear" to be 64 bit, with 32 bit Windows installed, they
cannot have any 64 bit versions of software installed such as JAWS.

It's a less common configuration now, but has caused us grief
sometimes.

George.

I'm afraid I don't quite understand why anyone would want to put a
32-bit version of JAWS on a 64-bit system, after all there is no
difference in functionality.
Cheers
Alex

You said it perfectly Doris, don't worry.

That is what I inteneded to say anyway. Remember that English is not
my first language so maybe I wasn't as explicit in my explanation as I
wanted to be.

My apologies for any confusion I may have caused.

thanks much.
