Hi. I don't see why it couldn't be done, but there are a number of accessibility issues that would probably make it very difficult: Firstly, the dashboard is a floating window. This means that it doesn't maximise taking the whole of the screen and restricting cursor movement within its boarders. It is quite possible to lose focus with jaws and end up somewhere else on the screen entirely without seeing the window at all. Secondly, all the graphics in the window are unlabeled and as far as I know all the screens in the application have a similar lack of tooltips. Graphics labelling yields no clickable objects and even the few buttons that are labelled IE the File and Help buttons just won't be clicked by the jaws mouse controls when the cursor is focused on them. These are just a couple of things I've found, it would take a skilled script writer to develop scripts and even then, they'd only work with jaws, window eyes or whatever they were written for. Hope this answers your question. ----- Original Message ----- From: Dean Wilcox To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, February 26, 2009 4:25 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: 3 Mobile Is it possible to create a small set of scripts for say Jaws or Window Eyes? Is it something that this solution or a company who control supported applications like Serotek with System Access could make accessible with a small effort? I don't have mobile broadband but if I did I'd like to use 3 but I could always use the WIFI on my phone to connect. At 15:49 26/02/2009, you wrote: Hi. That's fine, I know the modem. Yes, the modem uses the new dashboard so accessibility is out of the window. I'm fortunate enough to have the Huawei E169G which includes the older more accessible connection manager. ----- Original Message ----- From: Tony Sweeney To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, February 26, 2009 2:32 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: 3 Mobile Hi Ibrahim, There is no name as such on the modem itself except numbers but I will double check tomorrow when I have it returned to me. There is however letters which appear on the status bar which may help and they are Z T E in relation to the product. Can you tell me which modem it is you have? The reason I ask is that different modems use different connection software. I believe with the latest modems, the three Birdseye dashboard is used, and this is totally inaccessible. If you have the three connection manager however, this can be controlled with shortcuts. I have mobile broadband myself and absolutely love it even if it is a little slower than a conventional home broadband service. I get 15 gigs of data allowance for just 15 quid, half price as I've a three contract phone as well. If you'd prefer to talk to me, please feel free to email me off list and I'll happily try and help by phone. Yes I have 3 Mobile Broadband which basically is more or less mobile broadband wherever you go in the country. It's a small USB modem which you just plug in and basically goes wherever you go if you wish! Now the problem for me is that when I plug in the modem there is no way that I can find to activate the broadband. There is an icon for a sighted person which I believe is 'connect but my Jaws 8 will not speak that for me. Now somebody put a shortcut to it for me which worked for a while but not now! Now that possibly is another matter, gremlins and that. So basically I would like to know how to start up the 3 mobile broadband internet as a screen reader user? Any suggestions gratefully appreciated. I don't really want to return the product until I have explored all avenues. Oh yes I did contact 3 but they didn't know the answer, sttrangely! By the way I live in Dublin Ireland but the situation of 3 should be something the same as UK I reckon. I'm on three and use their services without difficulty. Please could you explain what you mean by three mobile? Are you referring to the mobile broadband or the standard mobile service for making calls, sending text and multimedia messages etc. I'd oblige you for further information. ----- Original Message ----- From: Tony Sweeney To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, February 24, 2009 11:22 PM Subject: [access-uk] 3 Mobile Hi all, I have 3 mobile as a ttrial but I don't think that it is accessible! It works when I get on board but to access the to get it going is a problem without sighted assist. Anyone ideas on this? I should say that I'm in Ireland but imagine that the setup should be something similar in the UK.Tony No virus found in this incoming message. Checked by AVG.
