Dear Filippo, thanks for your mails. In the meantime I've downloaded Nvidia dds-plugin for Photoshop. And all action aregone:-))) You will see if we are racing the boatsname AIMO besides the hull. That's all. See you Cheers Rick ----- Original Message ----- From: filippo To: acc_tr_vsk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, April 10, 2010 5:23 PM Subject: [acc_tr_vsk] Re: changing boat skins (hull, sails, etc.) I want to modify some boat skins. Therefor I've Photoshop vers 6, as Graphics editor incl. dds-plugin, then important I think, DXTBmp for converting *.jpg, *.bmp, etc. But now are the problems: I can't not do, what I want!!! Maybe I'm too dumb and can't understand the situation. After unpack boat *.zip file I load hull.dds. Then I send the file to the editor, in this case Photoshop. There I edit something (for exemple boatname). Then I save the modified file into norm.? (maybe dds?) and reload after edit in DXTBmp. But nothing!!! Where is my fault, friends? Can anybody tell me, what I must do exactly? I were very thankful if you can post me the actions right. Thanks a lot in advance. ---------------- hi Rick, i have a simpler method with using this http://developer.nvidia.com/object/photoshop_dds_plugins.html you just put it in your photoshop plugins folder. than you can directly open and save the DDS files with photoshop and for the alpha channel you just go in your layers window in the RVB right click and add layer (it will be called alpha1) just make a black and white picture in it (white is reflective for hull and opaque for the sails black is mat for hull and transparent for sails) use a traditional format for your image 128,256,512,1024 quare then you just save as DDS , DXT3 explicit alpha, check generate mipmaps , 2d texture with the exact name of the picture you changed for ex (hull.dds, or sails1 ... etc) and then repack the zip and it s done :) and here a guide is you still have problems http://vsk-skins.net/SkinsTutorial.aspx
