*Call for Associate Editor – Health Behavior Research*
*The American Academy of Health Behavior (AAHB) invites nominations and
self-nominations for a new position of Associate Editor of Health Behavior
Research (HBR). The Associate Editor role will be for a minimum of two
years, renewable for further years subject to mutual agreement. *
*Health Behavior Research (HBR) **is the official journal of the American
Academy of Health Behavior (AAHB). Published four-times per year, HBR is a
peer-reviewed open-access scholarly journal that includes original research
articles, current issues papers, commentaries, and abstracts from the
annual meeting of the Academy. HBR is dedicated to the translation of
research to advance policy, program planning, and/or practice relevant to
behavior change. *
*Role Description*
AAHB seeks an *HBR *Associate Editor who is passionate about research
translated to behavior change as described above. Candidates should be
knowledgeable of health behavior practices and theories with experience in
peer review; Academy membership is not required. This is an exciting
opportunity to play a key role in a relatively new open access journal with
an excellent and unquestionable reputation that is poised for growth.
The Associate Editor will assist the Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Paul Branscum,
FAAHB, FSBM, in reviewing submitted manuscripts, securing peer reviewers,
communicating decisions to authors, soliciting content, and preparing
materials for four issues per year. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for
final decisions regarding content and focus of the journal; design and
production are coordinated with staff at New Prairie Press. The Associate
Editor will also be responsible acting as an ambassador for the journal to
continue increasing its standing, and helping with commissioning papers. *The
Associate Editor is paid either an honorarium or can have travel costs
covered for the AAHB Annual Meeting.*
*QUALIFICATIONS*
· Expertise in health behavior research
· Experience with the peer review process
· Doctoral degree or graduate degree with commiserate experience

*Selection of the HBR Associate Editor will be made by the AAHB Executive
Board and Dr. Branscum. Candidates will be notified by October 15th and
will be invited to attend the AAHB Annual Meeting in March 2022. Their term
will begin November 1st, 2021.*
