If you want a cheap temporary solution you might want to look at this

New Head Tracking Solution
There is a new smart phone app just out which tracks your head position using
the phone camera, and feeds it to ...
It is an app that runs on your phone and does the same job as TrackIR for a
fraction of the cost. The reviews are almost all 5 star with people claiming
it works perfectly and some saying it has fewer issues with light than
TrackIR. I have not tried it myself as I have EDTracker which is working
fine but if I found myself without any headtracking then I would certainly
give it a go at $10. I am actually tempted to try it anyway as EdTracker has
to fake 6DOF and this does it properly. The only think holding me back is
that I went to EDTracker not only because of TrackIR having issues with
lighting levels but also because it used to sometimes get lost if I was
whipping my head around in a scissors or head-on. I cannot see this being
any different (but I could be wrong)

Hi Gents.
I have some serious problems with my HP Reverb headset so I don’t believe
that I will be ready for the Sunday Squad flying.
Right now I’m doing all kinds of stupid troubleshooting with HP support and I
hope that we are soon reaching the point where they send me a new headset. (I
have asked for the new generation 2 headset if it ends up with a replacement)
I may consider to buy a headtracking device as a backup solution. Any
recommendations?
Best Regards
