Training long term One of the fun things from training is seeing someone “get
it”, great sortie last night Moose, Germans everywhere, so many they shot all 8
B-25’s down by the time we got the target area, and at the end of each “tussle”
you were there out on my wing, apart from that one part at the end where we got
split up, by 20 miles apparently! But we got back together checked out more
bogeys and landed our 190 kill :)WitchOn 2 Apr 2020, at 12:18 pm, schmidx66

the attack started would constantly loose sight of them = dead wing man Since
flying and training with them I have improved a lot, proof = Witch & Moose
landed together ( with a kill)Salute to Witch and Bart could not have been
possible without good (fun) training Just a perspective from a RED NOSED

56raf_firebirds@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [56raf_firebirds] Fighter Training long
term As you know we have been holding training sessions as a squad for the past
few weeks, which has been interesting and good fun:).The main point of what
Witch and I have been focusing on so far is the attack pair tactics of the
bounce(double attack), after the bounce (loose deuce), and yesterday the
bracket. For the most part the training has been with Moose, Pod, Bo, and one
or two of the others when they can make it.What is becoming apparent is across
the squad people are at completely different standards of flying the aircraft
and understanding. You can go from not knowing anything and starting from
scratch, to knowing and understanding but have not really done it much before.
This comes from different experience levels of playing flight sims. Then there
is the choice of aircraft options that we use, we have been teaching energy
tactics using the Tempest, but if we go online we might end up using Yaks or
38’s, completely different style of fighting aircraft. Reference my email on
fighter aircraft, it has an impact on how we train. If we are going to chose a
38 or Yak as our main aircraft then the tactics we are training guys might not
be the best use of those aircraft, or we might not be the best people to get
the most out of those aircraft training wise. This choice of aircraft also
brings up confidence in an aircraft and how to use it effectively, which also
makes 1vs1 training a must. But I do think the big problem is that no matter
what we teach/train for, if we don’t use it and get practice on it, it is not
going to get us very far in the long run.So aggressive energy pair tactics
training might not be the best, if we continually have guys going to flying
bombers or escort missions, as they don’t get to practice it. We really need to
match up what we need to do, to match our goal.Must say many thanks to Pod, Bo,
Moose, especially as they have came in hungry for information and learning over
the past few weeks, hope they are getting something out of it all.ColinSent
