k1usn-scouts: USS Salem K1USN radio club scouting program

Low-volume announcements list about the USS Salem K1USN amateur radio club scouting program.

For almost 100 years, amateur radio has been at the forefront of wireless technology. Many of the innovations in radio and electronics (e.g., cell phones and spread spectrum) were pioneered by amateur radio enthusiasts.

The K1USN scouting program introduces amateur radio to between 5,000 and 10,000 scouts each year as a part of their "overnight adventure" on board the museum ship USS Salem. Some of these scouts are excited by the technologies they see and eventually become amateur radio enthusiasts.

This list will be used to coordinate the efforts of the volunteers in this program.
