Indian Linux Users Group - Jammu started is an informal group of Free and Open Source Software users in the Jammu region. The rationale for this group is to bring the global revolution of FOSS to our region. The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is a non-profit organization that is an auxiliary of the United States Air Force. The volunteers of CAP train for and coordinate search, rescue and security missions utilizing aircraft, ground teams and a wide array of electronic and technical equipment. CAP is also tasked with the mission of aerospace education and cadet training programs for young adults. CAP promotes, supports and implements aerospace education, both for its own members and the general public teaching the latest in flight technology. CAP educational programs help prepare American citizens to meet the challenges of a sophisticated, technologically advanced aerospace society and understand its related issues. CAP utilizes computer flight simulation, computer GPS simulation, streaming video and audio, advanced audio communication equipment, infrared equipment and localizing equipment to augment their training exercises. This list will be used to support the Florida Wing, Tallahassee Composite Squadron and will be used to supplement and coordinate many facets of these training missions.

Our technical section is specialized in speleology. We are active since 2000 to promote, explore and study natural caves. The Boot Up Club is a computer social club for people who are legally blind in the five counties served by the Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches. These include Okeechobee, St. Lucie, Martin, Indian River and Palm Beach Counties. It is also open to members from BlindCafe.net. Members must have either completed training in the use of assistive technology, such as screen reading software, magnification software, braille technologies, etc. or demonstrate a basic level of computer proficiency using any needed assistive technology. Some examples of software used by current members are: Windows accessibility features, Zoom Text, MAGic, JAWS for Windows, Window Eyes, Guide, NVDA, System Access to Go. Many of the current members also use a wide variety of different accessible hardware technologies, such as the Braille Note, The PacMate, the Victor Reader Stream, the Penfriend, and much more. This group started in August of 2003 at the Lighthouse. Meetings are typically on the same day each month for 2 hours. We have had meetings in other locations and we are now offering options for participants to participate remotely using a conference calling system. Activities include group discussions, new product information, demonstrations of devices and software by members or the facilitator, as well as presentations from manufacturers and vendors regarding technology for people with visual impairments. In place of standard Boot Up Club meetings, outside vendors or manufacturers will periodically provide presentations on their products or services and these presentations may also be opened to the general public.
The Student Stop AIDS Campaign is made up of students at universities and colleges across the country who believe that the worlds response to the HIV pandemic is insufficient and unacceptable. As part of the broad coalition of NGOs which make up the Stop AIDS Campaign, Student Stop AIDS Societies work to bring about the changes in national and international policy which will turn the tide on the spread of HIV and minimise its devastating impact on people and communities around the world. Through informing, educating, lobbying, demonstrating and a whole range of other activities, the Student Stop AIDS campaign aims to bring an end to the injustice of HIV/AIDS by ensuring the government, business and the rest of the developed world lives up to their promises to deliver universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support.
