The Antioch Jewish Student group has asked us to get the word out about
the scheduling of graduation on the day Passover starts. Their message is as
follows:
Antioch College's graduation is scheduled for Saturday, April 23, 2005...
The same date as the first night of Passover, one of the most important Jewish
holidays of the year.
Please call the following numbers and state that you "spport the change of
graduation date so that it does not fall on a major Jewish holiday." Jewish
students and their families should not be forced to choose between exercising
their faith and attending their graduation ceremony.
Unless you chooset to speak from a personal standpoint, these calls should
take you no longer than three minutes, but will make a huge difference to
Antioch students and their families.

This office has final say regarding the date of commencement ceremonies

This office is in charge of planning commencement events.

THe regional branch (Cleveland) of this social rights organization
will be sending a letter to Antioch College on Monday, December 20, 2004, and
will state the number of calls it has received over the weekend. They will
continue to field calls throughout the semester, and relay the counts to
Antioch will official weight.
