********************************************.
CAN WE MAKE ONE DAY'S OIL LAST FOR EIGHT DAYS?
SUV's are treyf and poisonous. They kill the earth and human beings.
They use so much gasoline that they pour far more carbon dioxide into the
air, and that speeds up global scorching.
They feed the gluttony of Big Oil - and the profits from Big Oil both help
pay for murderous terrorist bands and help drag our governments into
dangerous and deadly wars.
They are extremely unsafe for others on the road, and are prone to
roll-overs
that endanger even their own passengers.
Please make your next car a hybrid that does not poison the earth, serve as
a
stimulus to terrorism and to war, or threaten life and limb.
Celebrate Hanukkah (and every moment of a life-fulfilling year) by making
oil
last longer:
Urge your Member of Congress, the editor of your newspaper, and your Jewish
leaders to call for changing public policy -
* to impose fuel efficiency standards on SUV's,
* to encourage mass transit and bicycle travel, and to
* discourage suburban sprawl that ruins woodlands and forces more auto
traffic.
Judaism teaches that caring for the earth and protecting human lives are
sacred responsibilities.

The National Havurah Committee has been compiling contact information
for a list of Havurot across the country. Walli Chefitz of Florida
began this effort a couple of years ago.
We are posting her compiled information here, and will be updating
it on the NHC Web Site (http://www.havurah.org) -- if you have
any additions or corrections, please send them here (to
mail-havurah@xxxxxxxxxxx) -- and/or to
institute@xxxxxxxxxxx -- so we can keep this list up-to-date.
If you post to the list, please write a few sentences about your
havurah as well, and tell us what makes your havurah special, in
addition to providing updated contact information. Who comes?
What activities do you have?
Thanks to everyone who provided all of this information,
and to Walli who organized it for us.
