Dr. Rachel Eli= or is the John and Golda Cohen Professor of Jewish Philosophy at the Hebrew University of= Jerusalem, where she has taught for thirty years. She has an international= reputation as one of the world's foremost scholars of Hasidism and ancient Jewish mys= ticism. Her books include: The paradoxical ascent to God: the kabbalistic theosoph= y of Habad Hasidism (S.U.N.Y. Press, 1993); Hasidic Thought - Mystical Origins and Ka= bbalistic Foundations (Hebrew) (Ministry of Defense, 1999) and the recently publishe= d Temple and Chariot, Priests and Angels, Sanctuary and Heavenly Sanctuaries in Ear= ly Jewish Mysticism (Hebrew) (Magnes Press, 2003). Professor Elior is a superb lecturer and much in demand. Last summer she w= as a Visiting Professor in Japan and this winter she will be a Visiting Profess= or at Princeton.
