Moving a descriptor from DEVS:Datatypes to SYS:Storage/Datatypes is enough to disable it as long as you don't activate it manually. Recognizing a file without a matching descriptor is impossible. The #?.datatype files in SYS:Classes/DataTypes will *never* be used without the corresponding descriptor, because the descriptor defines the #?.datatype sublibrary to be loaded.
I think the MPEGA datatype cannot be blamed for this problem, because that one accidently handled image files as audio streams. But with the current problem the images are correctly recognized as image files, only decoding them causes hits.
