Hi Bill,

Delighted that I am in a position to disagree with you! ;-) See below.

Well ..... the following is what the long-time user of YAM thinks.

I would recommend that auto-clipping become an option in YAM and that the
default be "no auto-clipping". Of course, which choice is the default does not
matter much (to me).

Unlike Bill, I do NOT find auto-clipping intuitive! Nor do I find a lack of it
irritating, but it is completely reasonable that Bill finds it a 'natural'
feature and is irritated with the possibilty, perhaps certainty, that it will
be thrown out.

For me, I prefer the clumsier two-step approach; i.e., highlight the text, then
decide what to do with it, thus requiring one more action. I don't claim this
is 'natural' or 'intuitive'. In other words, I would prefer ONE standard way of
accessing the clipboard not several. On the other hand, I see no objection to
having more than one means of sending material to the clipboard; i.e., to have
certain 'enhancements' -- in the opinion of some people :-) -- such as
auto-clipping.

But not everyone will agree with you Bill that auto-clipping is 'better'. But, I
would agree that it should be preserved as an option.

And although I'm not too concerned about what happens on other platforms, I
think we must be concerned about what is occuring on the Amiga platform. If the
Amiga programmers are in the process of "weeding out" auto-clipping, then its
retention should become an option.

DARN! Here I am going to agree with Bill. :-) Since auto-clipping was already
a part of YAM, I fail to follow Jens claim that "there is no way to turn that
obsolete and unintuitive behaviour back on." It appears that Jens simply does
not want to turn it back on. As to 'intuitive', I've already given my opinion
about that but it is a waste of time to argue about "whether or not" something
is intuitive. Intuitions differ.

Well ..... if there were such a poll, I would vote for retaining it as an
option.
