be certain, except death and taxes.' In 2009 we here at 10,000 Birds would
like to suggest one more certainty: ?Without conservation there?ll be no
birds?. In Franklin?s time such a statement would have been dismissed out
of hand: the world seemed a huge and largely undiscovered place and birds
would have appeared to be everywhere in such vast numbers that nothing
could impact their numbers. Today, though, birds everywhere are under
threat. "
