Nothing profound in the yard---it is mid July of course--but this
morning a Red-br. Nuthatch started calling right next to me in an
adjacent spruce. It hung around for a few minutes and then moved on.
And yesterday there was an immature oriole looking for insects in my
crabapple tree by the living room window. The only thing unusual
about it was that it was so yellow and soft colored elsewhere. There
were wingbars. The size, and the bill shape indicated it was no
Orchard. Probably was the expected Baltimore, but the lightness, and
unusual amount of yellow color made me also think of Bullock's.

Also have a Ruby-thro. Humbird coming to my flowers in the back
yard. Is either an immature or a female. I do not have any hummer
feeders out as for years when I had them, I never attracted one
hummer to the feeders. They would exclusively go for the flowers.
So I stopped using the feeders some years ago.

Sounds like we could get another round of storms and heavy rain
tonight and tomorrow. This certainly has been a wet summer around
here. Approaching 15 inches for the season and it is only half over.
